Lauren Teague, founder and CEO of sports re-commerce startup FanWagn, has been named the 2024 Woman of Inspiration by WISE (Women in Sports and Events) Portland.
The prestigious award recognizes women who lead by example, inspire others to excel, and champion the advancement of women in the sports and events industries.
Teague was honored at an awards ceremony held November 16th at the Stoller Family Estate in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Selected through a membership vote, she was recognized for her innovative contributions to sports business sustainability and her dedication to mentoring the next generation of industry leaders.
“Being nominated as a Woman of Inspiration is an incredible honor — and surprise!” said Teague. “As I inch closer to the 20-year milestone of working in sports, this moment allows me to reflect on the women who have inspired me to find my voice and lead by example. While building FanWagn, I’m proud to cultivate a team of the best people striving to do well and do good — most of whom happen to be women and non-binary.”
A pioneer in sports social media, Teague first made her mark as the original voice of @PGATOUR, transforming how professional golf connects with fans online. Today, she leads FanWagn, a revolutionary fan-first marketplace for “Second Fan Fashion” that promotes sustainability through sports apparel re-commerce. The platform enables fans to buy and sell sportswear directly, creating a circular economy that reduces textile waste while strengthening fan communities.
“Lauren’s enthusiasm for fandom is infectious, and her commitment to collaboration ensures that those around her thrive,” said Natalie Abele, Director of Operations at FanWagn. “How Lauren leads FanWagn reflects who she is: a good person. You can’t help but get behind her vision for the future of sustainability in sports because she is so determined and passionate about it.”
Beyond her role at FanWagn, Teague hosts the Brand to Fan Show podcast and serves as a sought-after marketing advisor, helping global brands enhance their customer experience and engagement strategies. Her commitment to developing young talent is evident in FanWagn’s workforce, where 75% of employees are women.
The WISE Portland Woman of Inspiration award continues a legacy of recognizing exceptional female leaders in the region’s sports business community. Past recipients include Laura Flynn, SVP of Commercial Partnerships at the Portland Trail Blazers.
